A Stolen Heart
Our episode begins with a knock at Regina's door. She opens it to find a basket of green apples at her feet. Zelena has come to her house, strutting around and complaining about the life that should have been hers; the life Regina never appreciated. She then begins to laugh victoriously, as the whole conversation was a ploy to distract Regina from her real mission - stealing her heart.
Switch to Robin's camp, where Gold is being commanded by the witch to take Regina's heart. He holds an arrow aimed at Roland, apologizing for the situation of which he has no choice. Unwilling to let his son die, Robin surrenders the heart. Back at the farmhouse, Zelena makes gives Gold a new suit (thank goodness!) and makes a creepy dinner for them. She then explains her time travel plan, but Gold explains that such a mission has often been attempted but never successful. In a last ditch effort to escape, he tells Zelena that he underestimated her, and kisses her. But it was all a ploy, and just as his hand is about to take the dagger, Zelena catches on. Furious, she orders him from the house, waving his dagger tauntingly.

Cora Gets Duped
We are shown Cora in the past, working in a very flirty tavern in the Enchanted Forest. She begins to talk to a young man named Johnathan, who claims to be a prince. He asks for her hand in marriage - her desire to be royalty finally in view. Cora immediately accepts, and the two agree to meet in two weeks. Cora spends the night with him, and gets pregnant with Zelena. But Johnathan never shows up at their meeting place. Cora finds him, but finds out that not only does he not love her, he's not a prince. He turns out to be nothing more than a gardener, and has no intention of helping to care for his child. He throws her to the ground, and a man helps her up, who turns out to be none other than Prince Leopold, Snow White's father.
Not about to lose her chance at royalty, Cora turns on the charm. Intrigued by how different Cora is from anyone else, Leopold asks her to marry him, even though he is betrothed to Princess Eva. Cora accepts, and is visited again by Johnathan. He threatens to tell Leopold that she is pregnant if she doesn't give him money. Unbeknownst to both, Princess Eva overhears the whole thing, and reports everything to the prince. Leopold confronts Cora, asking her to tell him the real story. But Eva tells him to check Cora's pockets, which contain jewels that she's stolen from the palace. As a result, Leopold goes through with marrying Eva. What made the change? Eva goes from being a tattletale and a brat to being a wise and benevolent queen and mother, adored by her husband and daughter. I'm looking forward to that story.
We are then cut to Zelena being born. But desperate to get another chance at royalty, Zelena puts her in a basket and leaves her in the woods, telling her baby that without her, Cora will have her best chance. I love the repeat from season one between Snow and Zelena - Snow gives up her baby for Emma's best chance, saving her from certain death at Regina's hand. Cora also gives her baby away, but for her own best chance at royalty, showing more than ever her greedy and selfish nature.

A Little Chat With the Dead
Regina raids Gold's shop and seeks assistance from Belle, who understandably is in no hurry to help the woman who's done nothing but torture her since day one. But for Rumple's sake, Belle gives Regina the candle that Cora was killed with. Regina and the gang have a séance to reach Cora, in order to find out the past and give them an advantage. The spell works, but Cora doesn't appear. Mary Margaret stays behind to help Regina clean up, and they actually have a heart-to-heart. I've really enjoyed seeing them move beyond the past, and actually reach back to being friends, like they used to be. But a sound comes from upstairs, and it turns out to be a ghostly Cora, who reveals her past to Snow. We have another sweet scene where Snow encourages Regina to follow her heart, strong even if it's not inside her.
Regina goes to the woods, where Robin Hood apologizes for losing her heart. She then kisses him. Looks like she finds her heart instead of losing it.
