Henry Mills is like family to everybody in town - literally. Blessed with optimism, faith, and the most awesome family tree ever, he is the most sought out kid in all of Storybrooke. Henry was born to Emma Swan and Neal Cassidy/Baelfire, but was given up for adoption as an infant. Emma believed that it was necessary to give him his best chance, and that was with another family. Henry was adopted by none other than Regina Mills, the Evil Queen.
Although Regina loved Henry, her efforts to bring him close only backfired, and Henry pulled further and further away as he started to realize that the town made no sense. The same thing happened every day, and no one got any older in town - except Henry. Confused and questioning his past, his teacher Mary Margaret gave him a book of fairytales, and it changed everything. He began to connect the dots, and went in search of his birth mother, the savior prophesied to break the curse. Though cautious and tough, Emma began to soften toward her son, and he won her over. She moved to Storybrooke, and started making things better, weakening the curse. Full of optimism, Henry never gave up in trying to get Emma to believe that his story was true. When Regina gave Emma a turnover made with a cursed apple, Henry ate it instead, believing that Emma would break the curse and save him. She broke the curse with true love's kiss, and Henry was awakened from the sleeping curse.
At last Henry was reunited with his family, until he was taken to Neverland by Greg Mendell and Tamara. He discovered that the ruler of the island, Peter Pan, had been searching for him for centuries. He possessed the heart of the truest believer, the ingredient Pan needed to keep himself alive and young in Neverland. Tricked by a smooth-talking Pan, Henry gave his heart to Peter, and nearly died, but was rescued just in time by Emma, Regina, and Mary Margaret.
Henry is a special boy, made powerful by his trust and faith that good will always win. He brings out the best in everyone; helping Emma to find the family she always craved, and encouraging Regina to turn back to goodness. He can find his way into even the most resistant and cold hearts.
