5 Best Things About Season 3
1. Second Chances
It was really nice to see people getting another chance at what they had lost this season. Emma, Hook, Regina, and Robin all got another chance at love. Snow and Regina, and Hook and Rumple apparently buried the hatchet over past grievances and even got along with each other. Rumple was given a second chance with his son, Snow and Charming got another shot at being parents, and everyone had another chance to be together, even though they were sent back to the Enchanted Forest during the midseason finale. It's nice to see that there's always another opportunity at happiness, especially in a show that's all about hope.
2. Amazing Villains
I have to say, the two villains this season knocked it out of the park. Peter Pan was a deliciously dangerous villain, using mind-games and clever tactics to defeat his enemies and maintain his youth. Zelena was a nice addition as the evil daughter of Cora, showing her true colors for all the world to see. Both gave mesmerizing performances, and I enjoyed every minute of them.
3. Main Character Team
All of the main characters are amazing, and it was even more amazing to see them all on the same team this year. At least some of them have always been at odds up to this point, and it was neat to see all our favorites fighting on the same side, appreciating each other's differing gifts and expertise. It makes it even more interesting to see villains and good guys making sparks with each other while trying to work for the same cause. It lends for some really interesting pairings and awesome lines.
4. New Places
One of the best things about this year was when characters were transposed to places they weren't at all used to or comfortable with. How about Hook in New York, confused about Photoshop and disgusted by bologna? Or how about Emma in the Enchanted Forest, having to wear a ball gown and learning to waltz? It was television gold, and a blast to watch. Nice work, writers!
5. Redemption
Season three was amazing at giving it's characters a chance to redeem themselves. Regina trying to be a better mother and finally being seen as a hero and not a villain to Henry. Rumple giving his life to redeem himself for his mistakes with Bae. Neal breaking the chain of cowards and giving his life to save his father and the town. It was all very moving and nice to see the characters growing and learning from their mistakes.
